As the housing and cost of living crises continue, 150 former and current residents, staff, volunteers, partners, and support workers will gather to celebrate Link Wentworth’s 40 years of providing social and affordable housing across Sydney, including in Penrith.
Not-for-profit Link Wentworth manages around 6,400 homes across Sydney, including almost 700 homes in the Penrith Local Government Area. The properties include social and affordable housing, and crisis accommodation; and Penrith is home to one of Link Wentworth’s largest offices.
“Social and affordable housing is more important than ever as the cost of living and housing crises continue to pressure individuals and families,” Link Wentworth CEO Andrew McAnulty said.
“Link Wentworth is committed to working with local, state and federal governments, and the private sector, to make sure we secure funding for new and much-needed housing in and around Penrith. Now is the time to build upon our history, and work with partners to do more.”
Mr McAnulty said Link Wentworth was proud of its strong involvement in the Penrith community.
“Once a month, our Penrith Community Support Hub brings together 40 providers so those facing housing stress and homelessness can access the services they need in a ‘one stop support shop’.
“Our Specialist ֱlessness Services include domestic and family violence support, tenancy support, assertive outreach, and case management, and we are currently in the planning stages of developing youth accommodation in Penrith with our partners at Platform Youth Services,” he said.
Link Wentworth is a long-time sponsor of Penrith Council’s annual NAIDOC Week Festival; and hosts the ‘No Place Like ֱ’ Art Exhibition, giving residents access to art classes and the opportunity to display and sell their pieces. It also offers free meals through its Dignity fridge and holds an End-of-Year Party for local residents to celebrate the festive season.
